I first had a chance to try it on when I received a free sample in a goodie bag from Sephora (for being part of one of their brand improvement workshops), back in 2011, I believe. The fragrance had just released, and the adverts were just superbly sensual and eye-catching, with Leighton Meester featuring as the face of the fragrance. Kind of over-the-top packaging, but tell me this bottle doesn't look absolutely stunning sitting on your vanity.
So, yes - back to the story of me first trying this out. More than the fragrance itself standing out, what took me by surprise was how much I absolutely fell in love with it at first whiff - ah, 'love at first whiff'; I should have done the marketing for this one. I usually am not a fan of overtly sweet or overtly floral scents, and the thing about 'Lovestruck' is that it's a perfect balance between both. It hits just the right spots in terms of fruity top notes, more elegant and floral middle notes, and musky base notes. Right, let's get some facts on this one:
Price (for Eau de Parfum): $68 (1.7 0z.), $78 (3.4 oz.)
Top Notes: Pink Guava, Mandarin
Mid Notes: Tuberose, Lotus Blossom
Base Notes: Precious Woods, Sheer Musk
Overall Sensory Experience: Fresh, vibrant floral, with sweet and musky lingering notes
MRINHEARTS POINTS: 4.0 / 5.0
There are several reasons why this has become one of my signature scents over the last couple of years. Firstly, it is such a classic and so easy to wear to almost any occasion. Whether it's a summer wedding or your everyday scent for work, a day out with friends or a casual dinner date - it works every single time. It's such an elegant fragrance, that is not in the least overpowering, and yet has a whole lot of personality. The EDP has very good staying power - at least 6-8 hours - and even though the top fruity notes are gone within the first couple of hours (quite normal for any perfume), the floral and musky notes linger on my clothing for a good couple of days! I usually prefer wearing this during the day, and more so in the summer than the winter - the fresh and fruitiness of this scent is perfect for this time of the year.
I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you'd like me to add any additional information for future reviews. What is your favorite/signature scent? Are you like me, and have about three at any given time?! Let me know below!
Stay happy and keep smiling! 'til next time ...
